Hello,

I am Abdullah and i have living been in Germany for the last 10 years. I recently finished a bachelor's degree on the subjects of cultural studies, anthropology and decolonial perspectives. Shortly after, the decision to commence my studies and pursue a higher degree came easy to me.

Being the first in my family to be privilaged to study abroad and acquire a degree in the humanities, I hope to play a positive role in making marginalized realities more visible. I grew up in Jordan within the Circassian minority. I came to realize that our realities are but a reflection of the complexity of being human; and within the feeling of being "special" lies the common denominator that binds us together as humans.

My thesis deals with the intricacies of identity and its construction within contexts of dispersion. By navigating the Circassian context in Jordan and in the diaspora, i aim to unravel the intertwined webs that connect people across space and time. Such inquiries can be extrapolated upon other contexts and help uncover how social injustice and power dynamics are closely at play whenever we talk about the social context. I am currently attempting to translate the thesis into arabic in order to present it to my community back in Jordan and engage in constructive dialouge about the challanges that we are facing as a minority with an endangered language.

My journey through my undergraduate studies has been full of challanges and enriching experiences. Looking back at these times, i can't help but feel proud of what i have accomplished and how far i have come, both intellectually and personally. Throughout, i personally financed my studies and expense by working 20-30 hours/week jobs - sometimes more that one at a time.

I came to the realization that this time, i wish to dedicate myself fully to my studies. A huge part of my undergraduate studies consisted of weighing and make the choice between my financial stability and studies. Being a foreigner in the EU, I unfortunately have to undergo annual (financial) inspections in order to retain my residency permit.

Your help and donations can play an essential role in how i engage with the materials and subjects of my postgraduate studies. They would give me eough play room to navigate the demanding context of transcultural studies.

In the meantime, i wish to find ways in which i can engage my local community and offer a hand within the sector of integration. Ideally i would work with children with migration backgrounds at schools and offer them assistance within their daily endeavours.
