I never imagined I would find myself in this position stripped of my livelihood, fighting for justice against a system that wrongfully and unfairly targeted me for political reasons.

I loved my job and passionately served as a public servant, ensuring the safety of our country globally. I worked extremely hard to secure this role — going to graduate school earning my master’s, spending countless hours conducting research, and traveling overseas to understand the context, even in dangerous places. For nearly two years, I proudly served as a contractor with USAID, most recently with its Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance, where I worked to support some of the world's most vulnerable communities. In my role, I helped provide life-saving assistance to ensure people in crisis and conflict environments including children had access to food, clean water, sanitation, housing, nutrition, and health services. I proudly served my country and hope to one day return to service. It was more than just a job; it was a mission to uphold human dignity and deliver hope to those in desperate need.

I had a secure multi-year contract, a commitment that was supposed to provide stability for me and my future. But when the Trump Administration sought to dismantle USAID, I became an unintended casualty of their agenda. Without warning, my contract was unlawfully terminated, leaving me jobless and without recourse.

Adding to this hardship, USAID’s shutdown of our offices has made it impossible for me to qualify for unemployment benefits. As a contractor, it is unclear if I qualify for unemployment due to our employment category, and even trying to obtain paperwork to verify my work has been challenging, as many of our human resources staff have been placed on administrative leave or terminated. Even if I could qualify, it wouldn’t come close to covering my basic living expenses. After dedicating my career to helping others in crisis, I now find myself in crisis struggling to survive this brutal reality.

I am seeking to file a lawsuit to challenge this unjust and illegal termination and recover my contract value and damages I am owed. I have only 30 days to file a lawsuit against the federal government, this is urgent, and I need your help. But taking legal action requires resources, and I need help covering legal fees to fight for the justice I deserve. Additionally, I need urgent support to keep a roof over my head as I work through this crisis.
