I am creating this fundraiser for the Byrd sisters, children I have cared for and loved as part of my family. Right now, I am asking for help so I can afford an attorney for my upcoming DCYF appeal. I am fighting for the opportunity to have my voice heard and to protect the relationship I have with these children. I have been trying to navigate this process on my own, but legal representation costs more than my family can afford. After everything we have already gone through, we simply do not have the savings to cover the $5,140 I was quoted for an attorney.

These funds will go toward hiring a lawyer who is knowledgeable about DCYF and family law, so I can have a fair chance in the appeal process and the guidance I need during this incredibly difficult time. I am not asking because I want anything handed to me. I am asking because these children mean so much to me, and I want to do everything I can to protect our bond and make sure this process is handled with the support it deserves.
