Hi its cheese pilot, My real name is Adrian I am a twin born from a single teen mother who was assulted at 13 and gave birth at 14. I always dreamed of becoming a pilot as a child but it was always out of reach for my family as we couldnt afford the training required. I ended up joining the army and going to Afghanistan to earn the GI bill which allowed me to pay for my flight training and fufill my life long dream of becoming an airline pilot. I have been an airline pilot for the last 5 years and I feel absolutly ridiculous that it has gotten to this point but I am asking for yalls help. I am currently in a fight with the Federal Aviation Administration over my fitness to fly over therapy I received in Afghanistan as an infantryman a decade ago. I was unaware of any disqualifying diagnosis or condition from this care in Afghanistan so it never got brought up. It appears as though my public work with groups supporting access to reproductive healthcare and gender affirming care may have caused an aviation medical examiner to dig into records I dont event have access to to establish a cause to pull me out of the air. This is where I am asking you for help. A fight for an aviation medical is an expensive and lenghty proccess requiring visits to doctors not covered by insurance or my benefits through veterans affairs as a war veteran. Currently I am looking at a 6000$ legal battle to convince the FAA that I am allowed to fly under the current regulations and around a 4000$ bill to visit special doctors known as human intervention and motivation study aviation medical examiners that are also board certified psychiatrist to prove to the FAA that I am medically and mentally fit to fly. Given that I have struggled to find work without the ability to fly commercially I am struggling to come up with the funds to pay for this. If it gets to the point where I find a doctor willing to do these evaluations for free and a legal team willing to defend me for free I will refund the donations. I feel ridiculous begging for help at this point but I truely dont know who I am if I am not a pilot and I cant let money be the reason I no longer fly. Please help me get back in the air continuing to work with orginizations like elevated access and others.
