Well… this is not a GoFundMe page I ever imagined I’d be writing.

I’m Sandra (52), also known as SARN, Sarnie, Sassy SARN, Liability SARN, friend to any waif and stray who’ll have me and most recently, owner of a large, unwanted, cancerous tumour in my liver. I’m a whirlwind of chaos and laughter and live for my friends, family and next mad moment.

At 52, I had zero intention of becoming an expert in cancer terminology, scan results, chemotherapy, immunotherapy discussing my liver with more people than I ever thought possible. But here I am!

What’s wrong with me?
I have Stage IV Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer that presents in the liver). A rare cancer, meaning treatment options and research are much more limited than with many more common cancers.

Diagnosed in October 2025 I’ve undergone 8 cycles of intensive chemotherapy and immunotherapy. The good news is that my 12cm tumour has reduced to 9.5cm and is currently “stable”.

The bad news; it’s currently inoperable and incurable. The original hope was that chemotherapy might shrink it enough for surgery but it remains too large to operate on. I’m now on immunotherapy, with the hope of keeping things stable for as long as possible.

I’ve done a lot of my own research, asked a lot of questions and spoken with specialists, including a surgeon at King’s Hospital, who has given me something I absolutely love - a glimmer of hope!

SIRT – another door to knock on
A procedure called SIRT (Selective Internal Radiation Therapy) for HCC is accessible by the NHS but I have ICC and this is not NHS funded.

The aim is to attack the tumour directly with radiation delivered inside the liver, hopefully stopping or slowing progression and importantly, it might shrink further. If I get a significant response of shrinkage, I “might” then be eligible for a resection.

I'm not fundraising because it’s promised SIRT will save my life, I'm fundraising because it might give me another door to walk through and I'm not ready to stop knocking on all those doors.

Where will your donation go?
SIRT treatment itself is currently quoted at £50,865 and carried out in 2 parts, with additional costs potentially including:- consultations, blood tests, scans, hospital stays, additional medical expenses, travel and care if needed, plus time away from work.

I’m single, self-employed and being unable to work full-time during treatment puts me at risk of real financial struggle.

How can you help?
You don’t need to do much; £5. £10. £20. £50. £100. Fast car? House? Yacht, Villa in the sun? (sorry got carried away there) :-)
Seriously, whatever you can afford means so much.

And if you can't donate, don't feel guilty, there’s still something just as valuable you can do. Share this page. Send it to everyone. Ask them to share it. Put it on Social Media. Ask all your SM followers to share it. Annoy your friends with it. Tell your mum. Tell your dog. Make me famous.

I genuinely want this message to travel far & wide, as every person who sees it becomes part of My Army and we all know what an Army can do!

So, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!!! You’re giving me something incredibly precious. Time! (for hopes, dreams, places to visit, people to annoy and far too much chaos left to cause).
