My name is Gevan, and since 2018 I have poured my heart into running a Non Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) company, serving our community with dedication and care. Recently, my company was deactivated after the state-authorized background check company improperly shared my confidential background check information with third parties who were not qualified to interpret it. This led to my company being shut down without due process, stripping away our only source of income and forcing me to fight for justice on my own. I am now representing myself in a federal civil rights lawsuit (case # 1:26-cv-00033), after reaching out to lawyers who declined to help.
The loss of income has made it impossible to cover legal fees, living expenses, and even the essential computer software I need to continue fighting this case. I am up against billion-dollar companies and their legal teams, and I simply cannot afford the basic resources required to defend my rights and the rights of others. This situation is not just about me—it affects the entire NEMT community and countless potential employees in other fields. When untrained eyes make employment decisions based on misunderstood information, the consequences can be far-reaching and devastating.
I am asking for your support to help me continue this fight for due process and to protect others from similar injustices. Your contribution will make a real difference, allowing me to stand up for what is right and ensure that no one else has to endure what I have experienced. Thank you for considering my cause and for any help you can offer.
