I am starting this fundraiser for myself as I face Stage 4 breast cancer and try to make sure my 89-year-old mother is safe and cared for. In July 2025, I was diagnosed after an already overwhelming year that included two moves from North Carolina to South Carolina following damage from Hurricane Helene and the sale of a home in need of repairs. As of 10/11/2026, the cancer has progressed, and my oncologist has advised the standard breast cancer treatment protocol. Because of the move, my Medicare drug plan lapsed, and it does not cover the medication I need, Kisqali, also called ribociclib, which costs at least $20,000 for a prescription. At the same time, I have been trying to care for my mother, who is in cognitive decline and now needs more attention than I can physically provide.
I am doing everything I can, but I cannot carry this alone anymore. The funds from this fundraiser will help cover my cancer therapy costs, my basic living expenses while I focus on treatment and rest, and the costs of getting my mother into an assisted living facility. She may receive some help through Aid and Attendance benefits available to widows of veterans, but that support is not enough to cover even average monthly assisted living costs. I need help creating safety and stability for both of us. I am also an author, counselor, and researcher of Anomalous Trauma, and I intend to write another book about my testimony, lifelong work, and recovery from cancer with Christ-centered insight. If you are able to give, share, or keep us in your prayers, I would be deeply grateful. Your support will help me pursue treatment, get the rest I need, and make sure my mother has the care I can no longer provide by myself.
Scripture: Romans 8:16-18.
