In April of 2025 I went to the ER with chest pains in my right side. I thought I had blood clots because they run in my family. I was assured that I had no blood clots and no cancer. I had had an abscess from pneumonia or a cold. I was referred to a doctor at Methodist hospital who also confirmed that I did not have cancer or he would have been operating on me immediately. He prescribed me antibiotics and told me to follow up in 3 months. I was hospitalized again in July with pain. Prescribed antibiotics again with more testing. I was again reassured that there was no cancer. I continued on antibiotics until October when I once again went to urgent care because I was coughing up pink mucus. I was sent to the ER where I waited over 5 hours to be seen. Once my scan was done I was admitted and told i couldn't leave until my abscess was removed. 5 days later I was able to go home. On more meds. I finally had a surgery scheduled to removed the abscess in November. My insurance denied this. I called and had the claim resubumitted. It was finally approved. I had surgery to drain and remove the abscess on December 4th. Once the surgeon got in there, he decided he couldn't removed it and just drained it. He sent a sample of the lining in for testing. That sample returned a result of cancer. I have had genetic testing done because my sister had breast cancer and I have the Brca 2 and chek 2 genes. Which means it's not a of if but when I get cancer. I always thought it would be breast, not lung cancer. After further scans, surgery is not an option. I have to go on targeted therapy drugs to try to stop the cancer from spreading. They are so expensive and with me raising 2 teenage boys I cannot afford that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am not one to ask for help, but I see no other option. I promise to pay back each and every person that donates at some point in time. Thank you for listening to my story. I love you all!!
