Hi, my name is Veronica Monsivais and this is plight:
This past October, 2023 I was diagnosed with invasive malignant breast cancer, and on December, I began the fight of my life. I started 12 weeks of chemotherapy.
Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worst, and on January, 2024 I developed a severe infection that sent me to the hospital and almost cost me my life. So, harsh, it took doctors 4 weeks to find out that it was a very aggressive bacteria, called “Mycobacterium Abscessus”. This is a slow developing but extremely aggressive strain that has an even greater power to kill me than the cancer itself. Now, I have two mortal enemies taking turns at my life.
My chemotherapy was 15 days behind schedule due to the infection, but progressing nonetheless to culmination of my 12 weeks of chemo. Now, the maintenance phase will start soon, to be followed by 2 surgeries and the dreaded radiation.
The battle to eliminate this bacteria has entered into a standstill; turns out that my insurance will not pay for the antibiotics I need. Since it is relatively a new drug and I will have to pay for it. Such cost is so high and extremely expensive, that me and my family will never be able to afford.
Now, I’m turning to you asking for your aid. Every donation, big or small will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance. May God bless you all!
