7 Cancers in 12 years now - Currently battling prostate cancer, liver cancer, & an inoperable stage 4 tumor in the small intestine.
In the beginning, I had a prostatectomy in 2014 to remove my prostate. In 2015, I had renal cell carcinoma in my right kidney. The doctors found 2 cancers, both stage one, which they surgically removed. In my prostate area, the cancer was undetectable for one year. I was notified a year later it came back in 2015 while having surgery for renal cell carcinoma in my right kidney. I had a partial nephrectomy in November 2016 of my right kidney, where there was a small & a large mass, which they removed part of my right kidney. It was the biggest & most complex surgery I had to date, nearly a 6-hour surgery.
In June of 2018, I had 38 treatments of radiation in my prostate area to stop the cancer from spreading. The prostate cancer started spreading in February 2024 after 10 years of staying in one area. I had a small amount of radiation treatment for it again. Rang the bell April 2024. In April 2024, I began taking hormone therapy to stop it from spreading more to other areas in my body. I am currently taking hormone therapy. The side affects of the treatment has devastated by body. Since February 2022, I’ve been having an infusion for Liver & Stage 4 Tumor once a month @ Emory Winship St. Joseph Cancer Center. I’ll be on this treatment (Infusion) for the rest of my life as long as it continues to work.
The hormone therapy is devastating. It has weakened me tremendously. In April of 2026 it will be 2 years that I’ve been on hormone therapy. This will mark the end of the 2 year hormone therapy. It’s changed my entire life. It’s a difficult battle I’ve been fighting alone, but one I must go through for GOD’S glory. The cost for all of this is overwhelming just to fight & stay alive. The weight of it all is extremely heavy & cumbersome. Truth is, I’m afraid here in Atlanta with just AJ & I. I’m our only backup. It’s by God’s amazing grace that I’ve made it this far by faith to tell my story. I may not understand why all this has/is happening to me, but I trust GOD. HE still has a plan & purpose for my life. Although I’m afraid & not sure, I trust GOD.
