My name is Chizzy, and I’ve been on my medical transition journey for the past 8 years. So much has changed inside and out but some things still remain painfully present. One of the hardest parts? My facial hair. It might seem small to others, but to me, it’s a daily source of deep sorrow and anxiety.

Every single day, I wear a face mask, not because I want to, but because I feel like I have to. People stare, they ask questions, they judge, and the anxiety it brings is unbearable. I try to smile, to pretend everything is okay, but the truth is, I’m struggling. I’m tired.

Living as a transgender woman in Nigeria feels like walking through a lion’s den. The fear, the judgment, the constant scrutiny. Just recently, I had a painful argument with a neighbor who called me all sorts of names and tried to erase my identity, all because of my facial hair. It hurts more than words can express.

I’m not trying to pass, Hell No, I’m not trying to be anyone but myself. I just want peace. I want to be able to walk outside without hiding. I want people to mind their business and let me live.

That’s why I’m asking for your help.

I’ve researched and chosen Skin101 a licensed and accredited skin clinic on instagram for my electrolysis permanent hair removal. I’ve learned that while laser hair removal isn’t permanent, electrolysis can offer real, lasting results. But I’ll need several sessions to get there, and it’s beyond what I can afford on my own.
