Help Me Feel at Home in My Body - Top Surgery for Kay!

Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Kay, and I’m a transgender student currently living and studying in Austria. I’m reaching out with the hope that, with your help, I can take the final step toward becoming the person I truly am - by getting top surgery.

Originally, I planned to have the surgery in my home country, Hungary. I had saved up the full amount of the cost, and I was finally seeing a future where I could feel at peace in my own skin. But that hope was suddenly shaken. Hungary’s only surgeon performing gender-affirming surgeries was arrested and jailed, and with her, the last thread of access to this crucial care was torn away. (Read more here and here)

As many of you know, Hungary’s current government has taken an increasingly hostile stance against the LGBTQ+ community. Pride is being banned . Access to gender-affirming care has completely disappeared. Our existence is being legislated out of public life. It’s heartbreaking.

Thankfully, I was able to start HRT in Austria, a country that, though not my own, has welcomed me with open arms and given me space to breathe. I study here, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve found. But while I can survive and study, it’s extremely difficult to afford the full cost of surgery, especially now that my only option is to have it done abroad.

After months of research, emails, and consultations, I’ve found a clinic in Poland that feels right. The total cost will be around 27,000 PLN (~6,000 EUR), and I’m so close to my goal. With the funds I already have saved up, I only need about 1,900 EUR more to make the reservation and take the next step.
That’s why I’m turning to you.

If you’re able to contribute, whether it’s 5€, 50€, or even just sharing this with your friends - you’ll be helping me get one step closer to a life where I can finally feel at peace with myself, and no longer weighed down by the dysphoria I carry every day. Your support would mean the world to me.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for reading and for caring. Here's to a world where trans people don’t have to cross borders just to access basic, affirming healthcare.

With love and hope,
Kazimir
