Today, 27 April 2026, I received a lawsuit from Ugla Stefanía Kristjönudóttir Jónsdóttir, the City of Reykjavík’s specialist in transgender affairs.

I am being sued for comments I made almost three years ago in which I stated that Ugla supported unproven medical treatments on children and compared those treatments to child abuse. I stand by every word. I have always maintained – and will continue to maintain until my dying breath – that hormone treatments and surgical procedures performed on children to change their sex constitute child abuse (e. child abuse). This is not an opinion pulled out of thin air. It is an informed position grounded in scientific evidence and the growing international debate on this issue. I will defend this view, and my fundamental right to express it, with full force in court if necessary.The statements in question are nearly three years old. They caused the plaintiff no harm whatsoever. On the contrary, the plaintiff’s professional career has grown tremendously since then. The plaintiff has even actively spread the comments himself in order to smear me and my position.It is also telling that the plaintiff now hints that I somehow orchestrated a meeting request sent to him by a British journalist. As a public servant working for Reykjavík City, the plaintiff knows perfectly well that public figures receive media inquiries – both Icelandic and foreign. He has never been camera-shy and has used the media spotlight to his own advantage for years.This lawsuit is not really about me.

It is an attempt to silence legitimate criticism of a highly sensitive and controversial issue that concerns children. It is a direct attack on freedom of expression.I will not back down. I will defend my position and the principle of free speech by every lawful means available. But defending oneself in court is expensive. Legal fees, expert witnesses, and court costs will quickly run into tens of thousands of euros.That is why I am turning to you.If you believe that:Children should be protected from irreversible medical interventions
