Help Me Cross the Finish Line – Support Dr. Foster’s Walk Across the Stage

I am beyond grateful to share that I have successfully defended my dissertation and earned my Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision.

This is a sacred milestone — not just for me, but for every client, student, family member, and community I’ve held space for along the way. My work centers Black healing, community accountability, and liberation-rooted mental health — and I am proud to now carry the title Dr. Foster.

While I’ve been blessed to finance my education through tremendous risk, sacrifice, and faith, I currently have a tuition balance that will prevent me from participating in commencement on May 11. Walking across that stage matters deeply to me — as an offering to my younger self, my family, and the community that has supported me through this journey.

Over the past year, I scaled back my business to prioritize the well-being of my clients and myself. I did so with integrity and heart, but it came with financial tradeoffs.

Now I’m doing something that feels uncomfortable but necessary — I’m asking my village for support.

My goal is $5,000 — to cover my balance, regalia, and costs associated with walking in full regalia. Anything as small as a prayer, and as meaningful as a donation, will help me cross this final threshold with honor.

One of the core values of my research was community. And so even in this moment, I lean into that truth: we rise together.
