I have been confirmed as a charity runner by the Japan Cancer Society for the 2026 Tokyo Marathon taking place March 1, 2026. The Tokyo Marathon will complete my goal of completing the Abbott World Marathon Majors. I committed to a donation of 500,000 yen or $3,375 USD. I have paid the committed amount in full and all donations received via this fundraising page will offset this cost. If I am blessed to exceed the goal amount, those funds will be used to help cover travel-related costs for the trip to Tokyo. There is no tax benefit associated with my donation to JCS nor your contribution to me.

The Tokyo Marathon will complete my goal of completing the Abbott World Marathon Majors. When I started my running journey way back in 2011, it was Connie asking me to run/walk the Las Vegas Rock N Roll Half Marathon. That experience changed my life for the better. I ran the Las Vegas Rock N Roll full marathon in 2012 and that was the catalyst to set my sights on the World Marathon Majors. It is a series of six of the largest and most renowned marathons in the world. I have completed Chicago 2013, Boston 2017, New York 2018, Berlin 2022, and London 2024. Now is the time to close it out in Tokyo. They have since added Sydney, so the official series is now 7 events. Thankfully, they are honoring the original 6 Star goal but who knows, I always want to visit Australia :)

I chose Japan Cancer Society as my charity because their mission matched most closely to the missions of the customers I serve professionally in the USA. In my role at Freeman, I work closely with the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, and International Myeloma Society in helping plan their meetings and expositions. Cancer sucks and these organizations are doing their part in finding cures, better treatments, and quality of life options for us all. Cancer does not discriminate and most everyone has been affected in some way.

As family, friends, customers, and colleagues, you have all been part of my journey. Cheering me on all those miles is something I will always cherish. They got me through the proverbial runner's wall at about mile 22!
