My name is Huda Al-Safadi from Gaza. I’m a wife, a mother, and a woman with big dreams. Despite the many challenges I’ve faced, I remain committed to building a better future not only for myself but also for others in my community.
After earning my bachelor’s degree, I worked in the sales department at Microsoft Arabia, where I was honored with the "Best Employee" award in recognition of my outstanding performance. Later, I completed a master’s degree in business administration and received intensive training in digital marketing and freelancing. These skills opened the door to numerous freelance opportunities, where I successfully delivered high-quality projects and earned top ratings from clients.
Eventually, I secured a full-time remote job with a company based in Saudi Arabia. However, due to the ongoing war, Gaza suffered a total blackout — no electricity, no internet — which forced me to pause my work indefinitely. After months of waiting, my employer agreed to let me resume work on the condition that I could secure stable electricity and internet.
I’ve lost both my home and my job, but I haven’t lost hope. Instead, I’ve chosen to rebuild my life — and help others do the same. I’m starting a project to open a co-working space in the heart of Gaza, designed to support freelancers, remote workers, and young entrepreneurs. I believe that every challenge holds the seed of opportunity, and with determination and community support, we can turn hardship into hope.
I’ve already identified the ideal location for this workspace — a centrally located spot that’s accessible even under the difficult conditions of movement in Gaza.
Project Needs:
• Rent for the space: $12,000 in a year.
• Furnishing the space: $10,000
• Alternative power solutions (generators, batteries, etc.): $30,000
• Internet setup (installation, devices, etc.): $2,000
• Office supplies: $1,000
➡️ Total Needed: $55,000
The project was launched during a period of relative calm, when the border crossings were open, and all the necessary supplies were available to start. We began welcoming participants, including freelancers, students, and representatives of various organizations and associations.
The outcomes were positive, especially considering the challenging conditions in the region. All participants agreed that "Golden Hub" offers a psychologically comfortable and quiet environment, making it an ideal space for accomplishing work and taking exams.
Below are some testimonials from our members about their experience at Golden Hub.
However, following the collapse of the truce, the resumption of conflict, and the closure of border crossings for five consecutive months, the project began to experience a noticeable decline due to shortages in essential materials and the sharp increase in prices.
Under these circumstances, I now face significant challenges that threaten the continuity of the project. Chief among them are electricity outages and the rising costs of operating diesel-powered generators—especially as diesel prices have soared due to the border closures. Additionally, the cost of alternative energy systems, which are crucial for sustaining operations, has also increased substantially.
Therefore, I kindly seek your financial support to help sustain the project and continue offering services to freelancers and students, enabling them to carry out their work and academic tasks on time and in an appropriate environment.
This project is not just a co-working space; it is a genuine opportunity to empower youth in the Gaza Strip, helping them regain their productivity and contribute to building their professional futures in a safe and supportive environment.
Thank you sincerely to everyone who extends a helping hand and contributes to keeping this hope alive.
Huda Al Safadi
