Help me make art and culture accessible to everyone while awakening ecological awareness
Hi, I’m Jaira, a Spanish multidisciplinary artist and founder of Kistaku, my independent upcycling art practice.
Last year, I decided to take a year away from the life I had been living.
The corporate world was slowly squeezing the life out of me, and I needed time and space to reconnect with myself, create and explore, and to figure out how I could fully dedicate myself to being an artist, and what I wanted that life to look like.
I already had a project in mind: O MAR.
O MAR is a cross-border multidisciplinary artistic research project that transforms discarded and second-hand materials into fashion, sculpture, performance and visual art.
I’ve been developing it across coastal and island territories, including Cabo Verde and Croatia, collaborating with artists, artisans and local communities along the way.
Now I’m bringing O MAR to Boa Vista. My precious place.
My goal is to create an artistic experience that goes beyond a traditional fashion show, combining fashion, movement, performance, sound, scenography and upcycled art, in dialogue with the landscape that inspires the project.
I also want this project to promote a more conscious and responsible approach to tourism, one that respects natural heritage, culture and creates connections between local and international artists.
To make this happen, I need your help.
The funds will be used to cover of the artistic direction, invited artists, technical production, sound and lighting, communication, documentation and other essential costs to make this event possible and public.
I’m an independent artist and have been self-financing my artistic practice for almost eight years with my own salary. This campaign will help me bring the Boa Vista show to life and continue developing O MAR beyond this event.
If you believe in art as a way of telling stories, in transforming waste into something meaningful, and in reimagining our relationship with the sea, I invite you to become part of O MAR.
You can contribute, share this campaign with someone who might connect with it, or simply follow and help spread the story.
Every contribution, every share and every connection helps.
O MAR is not just a fashion collection.
It is a conversation through art.
A message.
I believe art and culture should be accessible to everyone, not limited by the ability to pay. That’s why I want O MAR to be a free public event, and why I need your help to make it happen.
Thank you for being part of it.
