Help me cover the Veterinary Care for Loki’s Foot Injury
Hi. I'm Lisa Feuer Sheckler — formerly of black tape for a blue girl and Projekt, member of Takohachi Taiko. I’m asking for your help to cover the debt I incurred from extensive vet bills for my sweet retired greyhound's foot injury that needed two surgeries. Loki was a racing dog in Ireland. I adopted him from a rescue organization, Greyhound Pet Adoption Northwest in July of 2024. Did you know many racing greyhounds are euthanized when their running days are over? I wanted him to enjoy his retirement in a happy house. Loki is a goofy, cuddly member of the family. His trickster antics (like grabbing couch throw pillows and carrying them over to his bed) are hilarious; he makes me laugh and brings me joy in these trying times.
I am hoping you can help me recover from his vet bills. Over the last 18 months, Loki has had repeated footie problems requiring many visits to the vet. His current problem began back in mid September when a rock got embedded in his paw, needed surgery to remove, and then had complications that needed a _second_ surgery and repeated laser therapy. Poor little buddy!!! He is on the mend, but his healing is still in progress.
My vet expenses are sadly in excess of $5000 (so far). I wouldn’t usually feel comfortable asking for help, but I have been laid off from my day job, am currently looking for work, and am not earning enough as a musician to cover Loki’s bills.
I truly appreciate your compassion and am eternally grateful for any amount of support you can offer. A donation of $120 will cover a laser therapy and bandage change. $75 will cover two weeks of medication. It's so hard for pet owners when things go wrong and we still need to give our companions good care! Each of your donations, no matter the size, helps out!
