Help Me Cover Medical Bills and Rent

Howdy y'all, my name is John and I've had one hell of a September.

My father is close to passing away, so I had taken some time from work to see him. On Monday, I was driving home from the hospital when a driver started firing on my truck and I was struck by a bullet in my left arm. I lucked out because they had fired 5 or 6 times, and only one shot hit me; but it could've been much worse. We believe it was a gang initiation since there was no provocation and no apparent rhyme or reason for this attack. I managed to pull over safely and flag down another vehicle for help. An ambulance took me to the closest hospital where I was stabilized.

Unfortunately, I am uninsured, as I cannot afford health insurance, but once again as luck would have it, the round missed all the important parts in my arm and elbow, and a full recovery is likely. I have a fractured bone in my arm that requires a splint and sling, and I still have motor function in my hand although several of my fingers are completely numb save for nerve pain. I was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon, with the expectation of checkups with different doctors down the line in a week or two. Overall, I was told I should heal in 6 weeks.

We have resources to help pay these bills, and this number is just an estimate after those resources have been expended. I don't like asking for charity, but I have to pay rent and utilities without being able to work as much as needed, and during these trying times my family needs me. I also need to make sure I have the money to pay for follow up doctor appointments, tests, medication, and food so I can recover.

I feel blessed beyond belief that I have such an amazing community reaching out to check on me, to help feed me and drive me around. And hopefully things will get better before they get worse. At the end of the day, I appreciate all of you very much, and any offer of help does not go unnoticed!
