Six months ago I made a gofundme with the help of my friends because my dad suddenly passed away. Now, for related and unrelated health reasons, I need to take a month of unpaid FMLA.

The picture I posted I took on the travel down to help lay my dad to rest. So many people donated to that gofundme, more than I ever imagined, and I was able to cover my expenses for a ten hour drive, as well as bills at for the next few weeks. I am so so very grateful for everyone who helped. But I am still struggling.

I have two autoimmune disorders and now I’m suffering from long Covid. I have severe difficulty breathing, I’m exhausted all the time, my muscles are in severe pain, and my skin feels like glass. These are just a few of the many and varied symptoms that plague me. Not to mention the deep, indescribable grief I feel still from losing my father. It’s gotten to the point where I have to take a month of FMLA.

Because I have still only been at my job six months, I am only allowed to take unpaid leave. My family is helping me with the out of pocket health premiums, but that still leaves rent, food, utilities, and all other numerous expenses.
