Help me continue to pay for testosterone
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Blue, an 18-year-old trans man looking for support to continue paying for my hormone treatment. Iv managed to afford it without support through donations for two years now but it is becoming difficult with having my prescription, blood tests and follow up appointments all due within thirty days. Transitioning for me isn't just about change; it's about becoming the person I've always known myself to be. Since I was around 6 I'v experienced gender dysphoria, a profound discomfort with my assigned sex at birth that's far more than skin deep. It impacts every facet of my life, from how I perceive myself to how I interact with the world.
Two years ago, I began hormone replacement therapy (HRT) with testosterone. However, this comes with financial difficulties.
The NHS waiting lists are an ever growing and I've been on it since I was 12. As a result, I've had to seek testosterone privately, which has been a hefty financial burden. Between the monthly costs of testosterone (£50 - £80), blood tests (£150 - £250), regular medical consultations (£30 - £60), and a monthly service fee (£30), not to mention the £10,000 for top surgery 9 months ago, the expenses stack up quickly. Especially as a university student. They don’t joke about us living off of pot noodles for nothing!
Navigating medical transition in the UK is an up hill battle to say the least, when all you get out of it is a body and a life you should’ve had to begin with. It's tough, it's expensive, and it's absolutely necessary for my mental health and well-being. Any donation, big or small, or even sharing this with others, can make a monumental difference in my journey towards living fully as my authentic self.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support means the world to me.
Thank-you.
