Hi. I'm Tim and I run a not-for-profit, freelance rescue, foster, and ethical breeding organization, Flanders Kennels, LLC., in SW Michigan. For over 20yrs I have been involved in rescuing and fostering, working with local animal shelters, the Humane Society, and XL/giant breed non-profit rescues. My annual operation costs, related directly to my dogs, were around $12,000/yr pre-COVID, and then $14,000/yr post-COVID. Unfortunately, 2024 and 2025 have been especially difficult years for me. Due to a lifelong neurological condition that has dramatically worsened over the last few years, I haven't been able to work for nearly 2yrs and am trying to survive on 60% disability income, which has been impossible, without adding a substantial amount of debt. The average of one litter of pups per year that I produce helps provide some supplemental income to support the dogs I help, when I have a litter of 6 or more healthy pups, but that has only happened twice for me in the last 5 years, so I am falling further into debt and having difficulty taking care of my dog's basic needs. My girl, Tanze, just needed an emergency C-section for the litter I had born a week ago and lost over half of the pups in the litter and left me with a $4100 vet bill. My roommate has generously offered to help with the expense, but anything I can collect from generous folks out there helps reduce the burden on him. My operating costs for just this year have been nearly $19,000, as I have had 5 dogs pass away in the last year and a half that needed additional end of life care and euthanasia. I do not discriminate against helping senior age dogs here and want to continue offering them love and support when others will no longer care for them. If you're able to assist financially in any way it ensures I will continue to be able to help dogs like Fawkes, that I rescued 7yrs ago, and recently passed away, my foster fail, Rex, my short term fosters, like my recent Boerboel boys, Roscoe and Levi, and the many wonderful pups who have been loved for the months to years that they've spent at my home until I could find them the perfect forever home. Now that I am even more limited in my physical abilities and unable to do a lot of the things I once loved doing on a regular basis, please help me continue to do the thing I am most passionate about in life: helping XL and giant breed dogs in need and promoting responsible and ethical breeding practices for the breeds that I love. Thank you so much for your support. God bless!
