Recently, I took on the challenge of fighting Cervical Cancer. Although treatment has been going as well as it can be, I was not prepared for the financial burden this would add and was hoping maybe someone else out there may be doing well enough that they would be able to help me get through this.
I am currently at week 3 of 5, getting daily proton radiation treatments while also tackling chemotherapy once a week. I am almost through this part and will be taking on internal radiation next. I am also trying to continue my full-time work schedule, and I have now just used the last of my PTO I had saved up.
It's been a tough process and I know I haven't told many people, but it really just came out of nowhere for us and we just wanted to be able to focus on treatment and not have so many conversations about it because it can just add to how stressful the situation can be.
Lately, I will say I have been so surprised by how supportive everyone at my workplace has been. Going to these appointments every day and meeting all these people going through such tough experiences but being so strong has helped me find the courage inside myself to be able to keep pushing forward. So even if you are not in a position to help in a financial way which I understand because everyone is struggling right now, these are very tough times. It would be so helpful to learn more about others who have been through this situation before or maybe just read encouraging words from people around us.
LOVE YOU ALL!
