Thanks to all of you who contributed in 2020 I was able to successfully finish second year of my art education. I managed to collect the full amount of the tuition fee in an incredibly short period of time. None of this would be possible without your help. Because the economic situation didn't change I have to ask you to help me once more. In the link bellow you can find last year's fundraiser video and all the necessary information for donating.
A little bit of context
As one of 2 students selected to receive a Holland Scholarship, awarded to non-EU students exclusively and for their first year of studies only, I have successfully completed the first year of bachelor’s studies at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, Netherlands.
I have enjoyed this opportunity immensely – it has completely shifted my practice from documentary to a more fictional/directed approach, which has further helped me find my own voice in photography and position my work in a broader context.
But there’s a problem
At the moment, I am not able to continue with my studies due to high tuition fees for non-EU students. The Dutch school system does not award any other scholarships, which is making my path harder.
I managed to cover the living costs entirely by working part time during the school year, which I plan to do in the future.
The only obstacle as of this moment is the tuition fee.
Here’s what we’re doing about it
I have applied for every possible option out there – from scholarships, bursaries, to emergency grants and bank loans, and after failing to secure the funds needed – I am now turning to crowdfunding, as I see it as the only way to complete my degree.
The Royal Academy of Art is a top world institution for a reason – it offers not only the cutting-edge facilities that enabled me to develop multimedia projects and perfect the craft further, but more importantly, it introduced me to an entirely new outlook on the industry. Through teacher’s mentoring and peer collaboration, I learned to re-contextualise photography, to appreciate the freedom of experimenting and to embrace the failure, in order to eventually grow from it.
Studying at the KABK has been a privilege and a joy beyond my expectations. I am highly motivated to continue with my studies and determined to overcome every obstacle, including the tuition fees.
