Hi, my name is Afnan, and I’m an Electrical Engineering Graduate from Gaza with a deep passion for STEM. Before the war, I was excelling in my studies, achieving a GPA of 95% in Artificial Intelligence coursework. However, the war has destroyed my university and the infrastructure in Gaza, leaving my education and future in uncertainty.

As a girl inspired by the transformative power of science and technology, I’ve always found ways to adapt to challenges. Now, as a Gazan girl in diaspora, my only opportunity to continue my education and secure my residency is through enrolling in a master’s program abroad. Returning to Gaza at this time is not an option, as even basic needs like water remain a daily struggle.

But I haven’t given up on my dream. I want to gain the knowledge and skills needed to help rebuild my homeland and inspire others, especially young girls who face similar challenges. As Mahmoud Darwish said, “What is not like me is much prettier.” By learning abroad, I can grow and bring back valuable expertise to help my community thrive.

To complete my learning journey, I am seeking support to pursue a master’s degree in data science, a field I’m passionate about and believe will allow me to make a real impact. The total cost of my education and living expenses for two years is around £25,000.
