I am currently in my last semester of my Associate’s degree in Social Science at Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), and I am reaching out for help during a very stressful and urgent time.

Yesterday, I received a call from HACC informing me that my classes will be dropped on December 11, 2025 if I do not make a payment toward my tuition. In order to remain enrolled and be able to start the Spring semester in January, I must make a payment of $600 by that date.

Over the past several hours, I have reached out to numerous organizations and resources seeking assistance. Unfortunately, I have exhausted all available options, which is why creating this GoFundMe has become my last resort.

I am currently employed full-time as a Community Outreach Assistant, and I truly love the work I do serving underserved community members. I was under the impression that my employer offered tuition advancement, which would have allowed my tuition to be paid upfront. Unfortunately, I later learned that the benefit provided is tuition reimbursement, which is not distributed until the semester is completed and only after successfully completing courses with a grade of “C” or higher. While this will be helpful later, it does not assist with the immediate tuition payment needed to keep my classes.

Completing this degree is essential for my career growth and will allow me to continue advancing in the human services field. It is also a stepping stone toward my long-term goal of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services.

I have maxed out my financial aid for my associate’s degree, which prevents me from using that option for this final semester. I have applied for the PA State Grant, but funds are not distributed until late December or early January. Unfortunately, too late to prevent my classes from being dropped. I have also reached out to HACC to request a tuition payment extension, but I have not yet received a response.

In addition to being a full-time employee and student, I am also a mom of one. My main focus is completing my education so I can continue to grow professionally and show my daughter that she can achieve anything she sets her mind to. I am so close to the finish line, and giving up now would be heartbreaking.
