Help a Single Mom & Caregiver Finish Her Degree in Government & Politics
UPDATE: I’ve officially graduated with my associate degree and been accepted into Franklin University for my bachelor’s. I’m now working two jobs, raising a child as a single mom, and helping care for both of my sick grandparents—while still pursuing my education. I need your help to cover out-of-pocket school expenses for this next chapter.
I’m reaching out not just as a student, but as a mother, a caregiver, and someone doing everything in my power to keep going—because stopping isn’t an option. I recently graduated with my associate degree from Sinclair Community College, and I’ve officially been accepted into Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio to pursue my bachelor’s degree in Political Science—a huge step toward my dream of working in government and creating real change in our communities. But there’s one problem: I was denied financial aid for this next chapter. That means my tuition, books, and basic needs like gas to get to class are 100% out of pocket. And right now, I’m already stretched thin. I’m a single mom working two jobs to stay afloat. On top of that, I’m also helping care for my two sick grandparents, both of whom are in declining health. It’s heartbreaking, and exhausting—and yet, I still show up every day to keep this dream alive. I’m asking for your help in raising $12,500 to cover:
• Tuition and university fees
• Textbooks and course materials
• Transportation ( I live an hour away from school and living expenses while I study)
This degree means everything to me. It’s not just about a diploma—it’s about building a future where I can fight for others, advocate for justice, and serve the community I love. I want to show my child—and anyone else watching—that no matter how heavy life gets, we can still rise. Every donation, no matter how small, will get me closer to continuing my education and reaching the finish line. Even if you can’t give financially, sharing this story could make all the difference.
Shit,Thank you for believing in me, for seeing the fight in me, and for standing with me as I take this next step toward the life I’ve worked so hard to build.
With gratitude, Kye La’Nay
