Help me clear old debt from vet bills.
Donation protected
I raised the original $2,000, hoping to eventually pay off the remaining $6,000 by myself, but have been unable to due to my own medical bills. If I can raise the remaining $6,000 I can not only afford to adopt a dog again, I can afford to go to the dentist. Even though I have dental insurance it doesn't pay enough to cover things like cavities so I've been avoiding going despite there being pain in my teeth.
Hello, my name is Jami.
My dog, Molly, passed away in June of 2023. She was a very sweet dog and I loved her vet much. I'm starting to get ready emotionally to adopt another dog but first I need to clear some old credit card debt built up from Molly's past vet bills.
Molly had been a stray before I adopted her and whomever had her before she became a stray didn't take very good care of her health. For instance, my very first bill for her was $1,800 because she had to have several very rotten teeth removed. Several of her other bills were well over $1,000, most were around $400-500. She was always getting very bad ear infections as her ears had many hematomas from shaking her head. But despite how expensive her medical care could be I loved her and she loved me. Life has been hard without her. Near the end of her life she was suffering seizures every day and her quality of life was rapidly declining. While I know for her sake I made the right choice to not let her keep suffering, not a day goes by I don't miss her terribly.
I'm hoping I can raise $2,000, while that wouldn't cover all my debt including my own medical debt (I have a number of medical problems myself such as migraines and osteoarthritis) it would give me a little bit of breathing room on my bills by clearing a little over one of Molly's more expensive vet bills off my credit card and give me a chance to start saving extra cash that doesn't go to pay bills so I can afford to adopt a dog again.
Obviously anything over $2,000 would go to pay off even more of that debt, but I felt this was a more reasonable goal rather than trying to get enough to pay off all of Molly's (and my) old medical bills that were paid by that one credit card.
