Before I get started, I want to say thank you to whoever is reading this. While you may not choose to donate, you engaging with the post still helps in our efforts to make a difference in Henry’s life. He is one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met and I know he’d want to thank you as well. Your time and consideration mean the world to me so know I appreciate you! Let’s get started…

My name is Brendon Henshawe and I am starting this fundraiser to help with monthly bills, medical bills, and future treatments for my friend Henry. As stated earlier, Henry is truly one of the kindest souls I’ve ever come across. He is always smiling. He hugs and talks to every single coworker he sees. He sings an opera version of Happy Birthday for the customers. He often stays after 11pm to help close the restaurant and catches the bus home without complaint. He truly works harder than people half his age and it amazes me. The truth is I’ve never seen him in a bad mood. That’s the most admirable thing about him because he has every reason to feel down and give up. While I don’t know the exact details, I know Henry is currently getting treatment to fight the cancer he has and it’s taken a toll on him, physically and financially, in the time that I’ve known him. Do you think it stopped him from being his cheerful self at all? NOPE, Not one bit. He still walks around telling everyone he wants to travel the world with them. He still tells everyone how he wants to sing opera in front of big crowds one day. He still laughs, crack jokes, smiles, and shows unconditional love to every person he comes across. He deserves the world, or at minimum a break from the burdens he has, and I’d like to help him by telling the world about him…. BUT just in case you don’t believe me I had
some of his coworkers write their thoughts about Henry and why they think you should consider donating:

“I have known Henry for a year now and every single encounter fills my heart with joy. Henry is one of the hardest workers I have ever met and I admire that so much. Watching Henry interact with guests at our work shows how much he genuinely loves human connection and that he has never met a stranger, everyone is automatically family to him… from teaching the young kids how to make “choo choo” train noises to singing opera (secretly) as a birthday treat, his underlying talents will forever take me by surprise. It also took me by surprise when Henry started getting his treatments because Henry’s smile never once faded and his personality shined as bright as ever. I hope that everyone finds someone like Henry to bring the happiest of energy to their life because I know my life changed completely when I met him! He is the most deserving of a helping hand because his hand is always there the moment ANYONE needs help.” - Madison

”Henry is, without question, the heart of Eddie Merlot’s. Every shift I’ve worked with him begins the same way—with a warm, immediate greeting the moment he walks through the door. His genuine kindness and tireless work ethic set him apart. Even on days when he’s clearly not feeling his best, Henry makes a point to engage with everyone around him, checking in, offering kind words, and ensuring that both his guests and coworkers are taken care of. He is also a fan favorite of a lot of our guests, some coming in just to see him again. I believe you should donate to Henry, because he would do the same for you. Henry has never met a stranger nor someone he wouldn’t give the shirt off of his back too.” - Loren

”When Henry finished his first round of chemotherapy, my fiance (who used to work with him as well) and I took Henry out to dinner in celebration. He greeted us on his front porch with what are undoubtedly the best dance moves I have ever seen from anybody close to his age. He was ecstatic. I’m sure part of his overwhelming joy came from his relief in being done with treatment, but also because he had friends to share the experience with. We got to a Taiwanese restaurant for dinner and out of nowhere Henry starts talking to the staff in Mandarin. He admitted he only knows a few phrases but the ones he chose to learn were so predictable if you know Henry. “How are you doing today” and “I wish you a peaceful night” were amongst the few he told me the meaning of. This world doesn’t have many Henry’s left. People who listen to others, who pray for those they disagree with, and for those whose optimism grows with age. Much of Henry’s strength comes from his faith in God. When he first told me about his cancer, he told me not to worry because the lord would take care of him. And as of now, Henry had been correct. But he still faces many challenges ahead, both medically and financially. Henry needs help, but he is too gentle to ask for it. Please help Henry.” - Zander

The truth is that Henry is everyone’s favorite person. It doesn’t matter if he is your coworker, employee, or just some guy you came across while you ate dinner. He truly will always put a smile on your face.

If you’ve taken the time to read this, thank you. If you’ve chosen to donate, thank you. This truly means so much to me and i hope we can make a difference in Henry’s life!
