Hello everyone, my name is Óscar Herrera.
Today I write to you with my heart in my hands, torn apart by desperation. I am visually impaired, and I have carried this darkness for as long as I can remember. All my life I have fought to move forward, to become someone, but the road has turned into a mountain I can no longer climb.
I work as a street vendor, and every day I step outside, fear paralyzes me. The world is a dangerous place for someone who is blind, and I live with the constant terror that something could happen to me at any moment. I have tried everything, but what I earn is never enough. Some days I return home empty-handed, and the sadness overwhelms me. My debts are consuming me — they steal my peace, rob me of sleep, and sink me into a pit of anguish from which I don’t know how to escape.
I need to raise $3,000. This is not a whim; it is a plea, a cry for help. My debts are suffocating me and leaving me unable to breathe. I also have my mother, an elderly woman who depends on me, and it breaks my heart not to be able to give her the peace she deserves. I can’t bear going out on the streets anymore — I simply cannot go on.
All I ask for is one chance. A chance to regain some peace, to stop living in pain and despair. Please, I beg you with all my strength to help me. I ask you to open your hearts and extend a hand. Every cent counts; every act of kindness brings me closer to escaping this torment. Words cannot express my gratitude. Your compassion can save me.
