Hi, my name is Katie, I am 34, and a couple of months ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. I live with my girlfriend Senay, 2 dogs, 3 guinea pigs and a tortoise, and to say this has flipped our entire life upside down would be an understatement.

Before all of this we were both very active and outdoorsy, running a dog walking business together and going camping and hiking with our dogs in our spare time.

Over the past few months my symptoms have snowballed and have become so severe that even with quite a hefty cocktail of medications, I am still in bed most of the time and unable to walk any sort of distance.

This has meant that my beloved business is now being run solely by Senay, who is also having to do virtually all our day to day tasks and care for me a lot of the time on top of all that.

My animals are my babies, and it breaks my heart thinking that they may not be getting the care they've always had because our funds have dropped. I've already lost my normal routine, and had to cancel so many big plans because of this disease. Right before all of this, we were planning a small wedding and trying to have our first baby. So I'm really clinging on to my animals' daily routines as a bit of a lifeline.

Which leads me onto the reason for this go fund me. My rescue tortoise, Eddie, had an incident in her previous home where her enclosure caught on fire. Since moving in with us, she received a course of antibiotics following an operation. Unfortunately, a year or so on, I think the infection may have returned, so she needs to be seen by our exotic specialist vet.

On top of this, one of our dogs, Ted, has diabetes and is on daily medication, and our other dog is a senior boy with chronic bronchitis.

All of our animals are rescues or have been rehomed by us, and once they're here, they're here to stay.

We pride ourselves on showering them all with love and giving them the best care that we can.

We are hoping that I am going to beat this after my treatment, and we can look back on this as just a really tough year. We would both be beyond grateful if anyone can spare even a small amount of money to help us fund the care of our animals through this hard time.

All funds will be put in a pot to support our animals while I'm ill. And if there is anything left over once I'm well, we plan to donate that to the Maggie's centre which is a charity that has given us so much practical and emotional support already. It truly is an incredible place.
