Help me care for and home the cats of Canillas de Aceituno
Donation protected
Hi my name is Debbie Black, for more than 12 years I have been feeding and neutering the cats of our little Spanish village, getting treatment for sick or wounded cats, and finding homes for them where possible.
From the beginning of March the Mayor of Canillas de Aceituno took over paying for the neutering of community cats. This was wonderful news, and I thought that my fundraising days were over!
Unfortunately the Mayor's help extends only to the actual neutering operation, and basic treatment for any cat found to be wounded when under the anesthetic. My team and I are happy to pick up the costs of bait and fuel on the trapping days, but there are many other costs...
It is wonderful to be able to lift a cat out of the street, and into a lovely new home. That makes everything worthwhile. We have found homes for 5 cats in the past few weeks. It's involved blood tests, vaccinations and parasite treatments. Since March I have paid 491 euros for five cats to prepare them for homing, and 75 euros for medical treatment of an injured cat. Some of these costs will be repaid by the new owners, but some won't. I continue to pay for food for more than 100 cats a day, very largely at my own expense. I have also bought two new traps at a cost of 110 euros.
Could I ask you, once again to support the work I do to help the village cats.
