Hi, I'm Kat and I fell ill in September 2021 and my life changed dramatically - I had to give up work, give up driving and became a wheelchair user. I use a large powered wheelchair which I lease through the Motability scheme, but this wheelchair will not fit into a car. This means that if I can't get there on public transport then I just can’t go. I am on a scrutiny panel for MCC Housing in Manchester and I have recently had to miss out on training opportunities because I can't get there without going in a car. I have also just got a place in the Hallé Choir, and having this wheelchair will help when we travel to other venues to perform. I am hoping to buy an entry-level active wheelchair, costing approximately £1,500, and a power assist attachment costing approximately £2,500. Is great, but so heavy
