Help a Heroine of Hard Work Build Her Dream Retirement Home

Hello everyone,
My name is Maria, and I’m reaching out with a humble heart to share my story—a journey built on hard work, sacrifice, and faith. At 61 years old, I’ve spent every moment since I was 14 working to support others, starting in a factory in Mexico to help my family survive. I later came to the United States, not knowing the language, but carrying a powerful dream of building a better future for my children, and I continuously kept working while in high school, learned the language, and while attending school, I offered my cleaning service to people to make money on the weekends for my family.

As a single mother, I raised two boys on my own—often juggling three jobs at once, cleaning houses, washing buildings, and working in restaurant kitchens. I kept working even while pregnant, until the very day they rushed me from work to the hospital to deliver my sons. I never asked the government for help, because I believed in God’s grace and in the strength He gave me to persevere through every hardship.

Now, with my boys grown and living their own lives, I’m still working. But this time, I’m trying to finish something just for me—a modest home on a property I bought with my own sweat and savings. It’s been almost four years, and the house still needs electricity, water, insulation, and finished walls. I’ve poured everything into this dream. And though I try to stretch every dollar, the cost of living keeps rising while my income stays the same. I live paycheck to paycheck, and I fear I’ll never be able to retire or rest.

What breaks my heart is that I’ve been taken advantage of—swindled by people who saw me as an easy target, a solo woman without knowledge of construction or a circle to protect me. They robbed me of not just money, but hope.

Today, I’m asking for a little kindness. Not for luxury or excess. Just help finish a safe, warm home where I can finally lay down the burdens I’ve carried for so long. A place filled with peace, faith, and the dreams I never let die.

Every contribution will make a difference. If you’re able to donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And if you’re able to share my story, thank you for giving it wings.
