Hi, my name is Jashandeep Singh Reehal.
I am a conductor and composer based in London, recently graduated with a degree in Music Production for Film and TV. Alongside my studies, I’ve built my own path as a self-taught musician — teaching myself guitar, piano, composition, and conducting, with guidance from professional conductors.
Now, I’m preparing for one of the biggest steps in my journey:
✨ launching my own orchestra!
This Ensemble will celebrate the music I love most — the Golden Age of Hollywood film scores, the beauty of late Romantic orchestral works and a lot of other interesting projects in the pipeline with some incredible people . The ensemble will be made up of talented young musicians from London’s top conservatoires, alongside close friends who share my vision of building something new together as a team.
As a self-taught Sikh musician, this project is also deeply personal. Growing up, I had no role models in the classical music world who looked like me or shared my background. My dream is to help change that: to break barriers as one of the first Sikh orchestral conductors, and to create a platform that supports other similar artists who are forging their own paths.
But running an orchestra comes with real financial challenges.
For each concert -
-Venue hire (approx £400-800)
-Rehearsal space for 2 prior rehearsals (approx £200-400 per session)
-Hiring Music Parts (around £150-200 per piece depending on copyrights)
-Instrument hire, like Percussion and Harp costs around £150-200 each.
It all add up quite substantially, including posters, programmes, refreshments etc.
Sadly, with these costs, at the moment, we would not be able to pay the players and they would be playing for free but I hope to raise enough money so everyone can be compensated for their part. As an international student in the UK, with strict work limitations, saving for these costs has been difficult — yet I am determined to make this happen.
I am funding the project out of my own pocket, but I would love to invite the community to be part of this journey. Your support, no matter the size, will go directly towards making this dream possible — helping us launch an ensemble that I hope will grow into something truly meaningful.
Thank you so much for reading and for considering supporting this vision.
