Hi friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers!
My name is Andrea, and I’m beyond excited (and a little nervous!) to start my very first year as a Special Day Class teacher for 1st and 2nd grade students this fall! After nearly a decade of working in my school district—as a para, support staff, and more—I’m finally stepping into the role I’ve dreamed of for years.
From the moment I became a paraprofessional, I knew this was exactly where I was meant to be. My heart has always been in special education, and now I get to create a classroom full of love, learning, and laughter for my amazing students.
But… here’s the catch:
I’m starting from scratch in a completely empty room, within a low income district. No chairs, no materials, not even a pencil sharpener.

What I’m Hoping to Provide for My Students:
• Sensory tools for emotional regulation and focus
• Flexible seating to support different learning needs
• Outdoor play toys for motor skill development and joy!
• Classroom basics (rugs, storage, learning centers, etc.)
Every item in this classroom will be chosen with care to support the diverse needs of my students, many of whom benefit from specialized tools to feel safe, comfortable, and successful at school.
Why This Means So Much
I’m following in the footsteps of my mother, who was a teacher in Mexico. I’ve always felt called to this profession, and now that dream is finally real. Your support—whether it’s a donation, a share, or a kind word—means the world to me and my students.

Thank you for believing in inclusive classrooms and in the power of a fresh start. Let’s build something beautiful together.
With gratitude,
Ms. Andrea
