Hi everyone,
My name is Nikquania Gamble, and this fall, I'll begin pursuing my Master of Urban Planning at the University of Southern California (USC).
As a first-generation graduate student, this opportunity means more than earning another degree.
For me, urban planning is about people.
Growing up, I became aware of how deeply our neighborhoods shape our lives, whether people feel safe, connected, seen, and able to thrive. Over time, I realized that many communities, particularly Black communities, have too often been planned without the voices of the people who call them home.
I want to help change that.
My dream is to become an urban planner who helps create spaces rooted in joy, belonging, and dignity. I believe that joy itself can be a planning principle; that communities deserve more than survival; they deserve opportunities to flourish.
This vision has become the foundation of a larger idea I call The People Realm, a philosophy centered on planning with people, not simply for them.
After years of working in higher education, community engagement, and student support, I was accepted into USC's nationally recognized Master of Urban Planning program. I've also secured a graduate assistantship that provides housing and partial meal support while I pursue my studies.
Even with those resources, there remains a significant financial gap related to tuition, books, transportation, and educational expenses.
If my story resonates with you, I invite you to support this next chapter in whatever way you can. Whether you donate, share this campaign, or offer words of encouragement, your support means more than you know.
The additional funds are to help cover the service fees that are collected from the platform.
Thank you for believing in my journey.
Thank you for investing in the communities I hope to serve.
With gratitude,
Nikquania Gamble
