Help Us Build Offline AI Tools That Protect Michigan Kids & Rural Families
My name is Lt. Lyle Perrien II, Founder of Michigan MindMend Inc., a small nonprofit based in rural Owosso, Michigan.
After surviving my own trauma, I created this organization to solve a painful reality in rural communities: kids, teens, and families struggling with anxiety, depression, isolation, and trauma -- with almost no local support, long therapy waitlists, unreliable internet, and high costs.
What we've already built at Michigan MindMend Inc. (with almost zero funding):
Free youth mental-health tools -- interactive games, guided meditations, and voice-accessible support designed specifically for kids with disabilities and trauma
Privacy-first, offline AI systems -- no cloud, no data harvesting, works completely without internet
DominusUltra -- our high-performance Triton RoPE kernel powering fast, local AI
privguard & empathy-anchor -- production-grade privacy and safety layers for youth AI agents
RURAL OPS -- offline AI assistant that helps rural families handle emergencies, repairs, and daily challenges when help is far away or too expensive
mindmend-guardian & TrustLayer -- real-time safety and compliance tools for families
Active community partnerships with therapy farms, youth centers, and local volunteers
All of our work is open-source and available at our GitHub organization: https://github.com/MiMindMendinc
I'm not asking for help to start something. I'm asking for help to finish and scale what Michigan MindMend Inc. has already built and proven.
Why this matters
In rural Michigan, 14% of high schoolers have considered suicide. Families face long waitlists, no local mental-health services, and spotty internet. No child should feel invisible or alone.
What your donation actually builds
Every dollar goes directly to: finishing and launching the full kids' mental-health app, expanding our offline AI safety and empathy engines, scaling RURAL OPS for families across Mid-Michigan, printing materials for therapy farms and youth centers, and safety testing, accessibility features, and real-world deployment.
Even $10 reaches another family. $50 adds a major new feature. $100+ equips an entire youth center.
This is personal and professional.
As founder of Michigan MindMend Inc., I've personally architected and built these tools while leading the entire company effort. Now I need your support to get them into the hands of the families who need them most.
If you believe kids deserve real support... If you believe rural families deserve privacy-first tools... If you believe small nonprofits doing hard technical work can still make a difference... Please donate today and/or share this campaign. Every gift and every share moves us closer to a future where no Michigan kid suffers in silence.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Lt. Lyle Perrien II
