Support the Bugiri Kay Kickboxing Foundation: Empowering Children in Uganda
My name is Maxwell Barnett, and I am raising funds to support an incredible cause in Uganda. The Bugiri Kay Kickboxing Foundation, founded by Shimiru Kayigwa, is not just a gym—it’s a lifeline for children in desperate need. Over the past six years, Shamir has opened his heart and his gym to care for children who have nowhere else to turn. With limited resources, he has been providing a safe space, mentorship, and hope to 38 children, many of whom are orphans or come from backgrounds of severe neglect and hardship.
For some of these children, the gym is more than a place to train; it’s their home. They have suffered unimaginable losses—many have lost their parents, others face abuse or abandonment, and countless more lack even the most basic necessities. Despite these challenges, Shamir remains committed to giving these children the love, guidance, and opportunities they need to build a brighter future.
The goal of this fundraiser is to raise £10,000 to help Shamir and the children in three key areas:
1. Complete the Construction of Their Gym and Orphanage: This will provide a permanent, safe haven where children can grow, learn, and train.
2. Food and Supplies: With so many mouths to feed and limited resources, the gym struggles to provide consistent meals and basic necessities.
3. Transport Costs: Funds will also cover the expenses of transporting gym equipment that is already available in Africa but requires travel to collect.
Every pound raised will go directly to the Bugiri Kay Kickboxing Foundation, ensuring that these children receive the care, support, and opportunities they desperately need. Your contribution can help change the trajectory of their lives, giving them not just hope but a tangible path to a better future.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of these children and support Shamir’s incredible mission.
we have bought the first £500 which has bough 6,000 bricks, 2 trips of sand and 40 iron roofing sheets.
We have used a further £2500 on labour, cement, and equipment which had us their first proper toilet, boxing pads & equipment and we have built half the orphanage.
Next we will buy the plot of land next to the orphanage to start building the gym.
keep an eye on here for the cost breakdown in real time.
