Hi, my name is Myles and I love birds. I am 14 years old and have been wanting to do this project since I first started bird watching. I always wanted other people to be able to see all of the really cool birds around Texas, including the endangered Golden-cheeked Warbler that migrates through Texas. So I came up with an idea to build a bird blind in a local nature park. I then went to the Frank L. Madla Park Board with my idea and got it approved. Now I ask for your help to fund this large project so that others can also be able to enjoy bird watching.
The bird blind itself will be a wooden 8x12 foot building with a metal roof and a large viewing window. Inside will be benches in front of the viewing window for birders to sit. There will be photos of local Texas birds so that people who might not know a lot about birds can get into the joy that is bird watching. Visitors to the blind will also be able to write down their sightings on a clipboard provided so that I can record it and give the information to eBird.org owned by National Audubon Society who would use the information to help better protect bird species. Next to the building will be a large water tank that will collect rainwater runoff from the metal roof. On the outside of the viewing window will be the bird sanctuary part. It will be full of bird feeders and plenty of places for them to perch, along with having a water feature they can bathe in. The water feature will have a solar-powered pump that pumps water from the water tank.
I appreciate any help and please share this if you can.
