Hi all,
I’m reaching out with a very humble ask, especially during a time when simply getting by feels more expensive than ever. I’ve been offered my dream position as Campaign Manager for Shonique Williams for Congress in California’s 41st District, and I’m incredibly excited and honestly still a bit in awe.
Shonique is a formerly incarcerated, wrongfully convicted woman who grew up in the foster system and has dedicated her life to fighting for people who are too often ignored by those in power. The opportunity to help build this campaign and bring those voices to Congress means everything to me.
To accept the role, I need to relocate to Southeast Los Angeles by January 15. The biggest hurdle is securing housing and making sure I arrive with enough stability to be safe, grounded, and fully present for the work ahead. I know this is the holiday season, and there is absolutely no pressure to give if you are unable. Sharing this would mean just as much.
For the past year, I have been actively seeking full time work and have come very close several times without quite landing something permanent. In the meantime, I have been working part time as a caretaker for an elderly man with dementia. I have done my best to save responsibly, but the cost of living has made it difficult to put aside enough to cover a move of this size on my own.
Any support, whether financial or simply helping spread the word, would help make it possible for me to step into this role and continue fighting alongside candidates and communities who deserve real representation, especially in these challenging times. I am deeply grateful for your care, your time, and your solidarity.
Thank you for reading and for being part of my community.
