Hi, my name is Mir, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a lot of hope.

I’m a 26 years old international student currently in Canada, and due to the lack of job opportunities and my finances running extremely tight, I’m preparing to leave Canada and travel back home. What makes this situation incredibly painful is the thought of leaving behind someone who isn’t just a pet, but my family. My cat, Lizzie.

Lizzie is 5 years old, a sweet little furball who is deeply attached to me. I adopted her after her previous owner passed away, and from the very first day, she chose me. It’s been 4 years since I adopted her. She follows me around, sleeps beside me, and has been my comfort through all these years.

I have always taken good care of her since the beginning. From yearly vet visits, to providing her with her necessities whether getting her a cat tree, or an automatic feeder or water fountain. Lizzie has already experienced loss once, and the thought of her losing her home again breaks my heart. I do not want her to end up in shelters or a house ever she won’t be loved as much.

As I began preparing to leave Canada, I reached out to vets, airlines, and pet relocation services to understand what it would take to bring Lizzie with me. I was shocked by how expensive international pet travel is. Right now, I’m working part-time as a cashier at a dollar store, and on top of that I do Uber and Instacart whenever I can to save extra money specifically for Lizzie. Even with all this effort, I’m still falling short of what’s needed to start her required travel procedures.

I now need to raise these funds as soon as possible so I can begin Lizzie’s required procedures and secure her travel arrangements on time. Without starting the process early, I may be forced to leave her behind purely because of money.

I’m not asking for luxury or convenience. I’m asking for help so I don’t have to leave my family behind during an already difficult time.
