I’m reaching out during one of the hardest seasons of my life. I recently and unexpectedly lost my home in Savannah, Georgia, and while I’ve been trying to figure out how to rebuild, another urgent need has come into focus: my father, John, needs my support as we prepare to relocate him from Granbury, Texas, to live with me in Savannah. I am traveling to Texas to pack up his home and bring him back with me so we can be together during this transition. I am also making this move so that both of my parents can be in the same state while they live out their years. Bringing my dad home is not optional for me. He needs family nearby, and I am committed to helping him make this move safely while I rebuild my own stability after a previous eviction situation that happened while I was helping my mother and struggling with my mental health.

I want to be clear that we are not asking for housing help. John owns his home in Texas, and we plan to sell it to help fund a new home for us in Georgia. What I need help with right now is getting there, managing the move, and getting financially stable enough to handle this transition. I will be working when I return, and I am also going back to school to become a substance abuse counselor and social worker. Donations will help cover travel and logistics for my trip to Texas, moving and transport costs to bring John’s belongings back to Georgia, and essential medical and daily living supplies to keep him comfortable and safe while we get settled.
