Help Me Bring Bruno Home — 35 Days and Fighting

My name is Stephan Wells and I need your help bringing my son Bruno home. Bruno is a Cane Corso mix who has been impounded by San Jose Animal Care and Services since March 23, 2026. That is 35 days—35 days since I have been able to hold my boy, walk with him, or feel the peace that only he brings me. I am a disabled stroke survivor. Before Bruno was taken I could walk without assistance and run my own mobile mechanic business. Today I walk with a cane and I cannot work at all. Bruno is not just my companion. He is my lifeline. His presence keeps my stress controlled, my body functioning, and my mind stable. Without him my health has deteriorated every single day he has been gone.

San Jose Animal Care and Services seized Bruno following a bite incident. Their own responding officer, Officer Luna, testified at the dangerous dog hearing that Bruno is a very sweet boy and that her only intention was a rabies hold—not a dangerous dog classification. Despite this, Bruno has been held for 35 days, I have been denied all visitation, denied all records, and given no explanation. I stood alone in that hearing room and fought for my son. I presented evidence that their report lacked truth. My community witnesses testified to Bruno's gentle and loving nature. The hearing officer put my file on top as priority. Bruno has now been officially deemed a dangerous dog.

To bring him home I am facing fees and costs that are impossible to cover alone. As a disabled man who has been unable to work for 35 days, I am reaching out for help. I have only 10 days left to save him. Every dollar raised goes directly toward impound and release fees, legal costs to fight the dangerous dog classification, and ongoing civil litigation against San Jose Animal Care and Services for civil rights violations, disability discrimination, and denial of due process. My case is not isolated—this is a pattern of misconduct by an agency that is supposed to protect animals and serve the community. I built myself from nothing. No family. No support system. Just me and the strength I found in Bruno. He gave me five years of stability, health, and unconditional love. Please help me bring my boy home. Any amount helps. Every dollar gets us one step closer. Bruno is sweet. Bruno is gentle. Bruno is my son. Help us fight. Help us go home together. Time is running out—please help us in these final 10 days.
