After years of working in the corporate world, I made a decision that honestly felt both exciting and terrifying — to step away and build something of my own. Something meaningful. Something rooted in culture, flavour, and community.

Folkestone isn’t just where I live — it’s home. It’s where I grew up, where I’ve built relationships, and where I’ve seen the community evolve over the years.

And one thing I’ve always noticed is this: while our Afro-Caribbean community continues to grow, our food culture isn’t fully represented here.

The flavours, the dishes, the experience — it’s missing. That’s where this journey begins.

What I’m Building

I’m launching Nita’s Spice & Flavour Parlour, a vibrant Afro-Caribbean street food experience bringing bold, authentic flavours to Folkestone.

From smoky suya grills to rich jollof rice, plantain, and home-style dishes — this isn’t just food, it’s culture, comfort, and connection.

I’m proud to share that my official launch will be at Folkestone Harbour Arm on the 30th & 31st of May, as part of their very first vendor pop-up series.

This is a huge opportunity — and a big step toward building something long-term.
