Dear friends and loved ones,
I’m reaching out with a humble request. I truly don’t expect anything, but I appreciate every one of you and the love and support you’ve shown me—whether or not you’re able to contribute.
At the beginning of this month, I began receiving care for a health condition that required me to be admitted and take time away from work. My care team has recommended that I continue with treatment for another three weeks to support the best possible outcome and allow me time to fully stabilize.
As many of you know, I work full-time as a registered nurse. Unfortunately, this means I’m currently without income while I focus on my health. I used all my paid leave earlier this year when I was out for two months due to a herniated disc injury. Because I’m a federal employee (working at the VA), I don’t qualify for Oregon Paid Leave, and I don’t have private short-term disability coverage, which has made this situation even more difficult.
To manage, I’ve already given notice on my apartment, paused all non-essential expenses, and applied for financial assistance through the hospital. Even with those steps, I’m still facing some unavoidable, time-sensitive costs. In order to continue treatment and maintain stability during this time, I’m hoping to raise $2,660 to help cover:
• $500 in medical co-pays to continue care
• $1,571 in essential bills (including private student loans and other fixed monthly expenses)
• $589 for prorated rent for this final month in my apartment
This support would allow me to finish my current phase of treatment, make necessary housing transitions, and return to work once I’m cleared.
Please don’t feel any pressure, and feel free to share this if you feel so inclined. Every bit of support helps until I can return to work.
