Hello everyone! I’m starting a fundraiser to cover storage and car expenses while getting back on my feet.
Hemi and I are truly grateful for the support last year. The donations helped cover expenses for both Hemi and me while transitioning out of homelessness into the Tiny Homes, a rehousing program in San Jose.
We arrived just after Labor Day and spent about 6 months there. I caught up on some much needed rest, updated documents and got several vaccinations for Hemi and me. I worked with staff to recoup from the backslide and disconnectedness in my life.
I have been through some difficult times, but with therapy and help from 2018 into the pandemic, I made a plan to heal and realize my dreams. I had tremendous challenges into 2021 however, with the pandemic and my housing ordeals while trying to navigate the non-user friendly disability system.
Hemi and I were placed into a group home in mid-March.
While I’m grateful to be better off than I was, the environment is stressful and I don’t feel safe here. I’m working with my case manager to find housing by myself. Now that I’m regaining some stability, I need a more peaceful environment to thrive in.
It has been five years since I last worked. I’m looking forward to a better quality of life and working to realize my dreams. I recently signed up for a return to work program and hope to start in a couple months.
I’m currently receiving rental assistance because I’m not working. I was recently told that funding for rental assistance is running low and am currently seeking assistance from other organizations. I will keep you updated on this.
I need my car to get around to various appointments, but also to catch up on car bills and maintenance to satisfy the requirements for a clean air vehicle grant. I can get up to $12,000 toward the purchase of a hybrid vehicle by retiring my ‘97 Honda.
Once I can rebuild my personal infrastructure, I can move more directly towards realizing my dreams. Won’t you please help?
Thanks for reading. I look forward to reconnecting with you soon!
