Help Me Become A Permanent Resident

Hi everyone,

As many of you know, I’ve found myself stuck in Canada during this pandemic. After graduating, I accepted a job in British Columbia and began the tedious journey of immigrating. I have been fortunate enough to get a work permit for my full time school psychology position which will expire in 2023. However, due to the high cost of living in BC, losing 30% on all of my American bills due to the exchange rate, and the pandemic, I continue to struggle financially and live paycheck to paycheck. Due to my temporary status, I am not allowed to seek any additional employment. 

Since the pandemic, I have been unable to see my family and friends or return home. Although many Americans and Canadians have been bypassing travel restrictions, I do not have this luxury as a temporary resident. If I leave the country, even for essential purposes, I will not be allowed entry back into Canada where I currently have an apartment, a career, and a life. Due to Canada’s messy vaccination plan, I may or may not be vaccinated by September as the vaccination date for educators keeps getting pushed back. I have no idea when I’ll be able to see my loved ones outside of Canada again. 

This GoFundMe is an attempt to receive some financial assistance with my Permanent Residency application. If I become a Permanent Resident of Canada I will be able to get a part-time job on top of my current employment to make ends meet, have access to my country of origin once again as I will be allowed re-entry into Canada if I leave, and I will be able to start making steps towards future educational goals as I am not allowed to further my education as a temporary resident. 

Gaining my permanent residency will be a huge step in taking back the autonomy I have lost through the pandemic as well as the immigration process. With the freedom to work additional jobs, I will be able to put money towards credit card debt, student loan debt, my future PhD, as well as saving so I can one day move back home. 

When I originally embarked on this journey, I had no idea the land border between the US and Canada would close for the first time in modern history and that I would be giving up access to my American life completely. This has been devastating and without help, it may take me years to save up enough to apply for my PR, extending the amount of time I won’t be able to see the people who make life worth living. Please help me speed up this process and regain some stability and security in my life during these unsettling times.

• IELTS Exam (required for application) $325 CAD
• Credential Evaluation (required for application) $260 CAD 
• Transcripts for credential evaluation $40 CAD
• Medical exam (required for application) approximately $200 CAD
