Hi everyone! I’m Adriana Manjarrez, a passionate divemaster with 18 years of experience diving the Sea of Cortez. My love for diving started in Los Cabos when I was just 18 years old, and since then, the ocean has become my life, passion, and purpose. Now, I’m ready to take the next step: becoming a certified PADI Dive Instructor!
I’ve been blessed to teach so many new divers over the years—sharing my love for the ocean and inspiring them to protect it. Teaching beginners is my favorite part because they represent the future of ocean conservation. Now, I need your help to continue this mission by completing my Instructor Development Course (IDC).
What’s this course about?
I’ll be attending a local dive company’s IDC program in Los Cabos starting May 24th 2025 This course isn’t just about becoming a dive instructor—it also includes specialized course on sharks, and manta rays, two species vital to the Baja ecosystem. I will also have a Dive against debris Certification. With this knowledge, I’ll be able to offer richer experiences to my students and contribute to conservation efforts.
Your support will cover the following costs:
IDC Course Fees: 3,500 USD
Daily transportation & Food: 65 USD/day × 16 days = 1,040 USD
PADI fee membership Certification Renewal: 400 USD/year × 1 year = 400 USD
Additional Expenses for Mask Straps.
In the past, I’ve enjoyed giving mask straps as a souvenir to those who dive with me, creating a unique reminder of our underwater adventures. Made of neoprene, these straps fit on the back of the scuba mask, helping to protect hair and retain warmth around the head. Although I won’t include them as part of the campaign rewards, including this expense ensures that I can continue offering clients a small token that helps them remember and cherish our scuba experiences together. To make this possible, I’ll need to print 50 mask straps at a cost of 170 pesos each, adding an additional expense of 8,500 pesos (approximately $425 USD).

To achieve my dream of becoming a PADI Dive Instructor, the total expenses come to $ 5,365 USD. This covers the course fees, rental equipment, transportation, food, PADI certification renewal and straps.

Amount to ask on GoFundMe: approximately $5,600 USD to cover GoFundMe fees.
I’m setting the campaign goal at $5,900 USD ($118.000 pesos).
To ensure everything runs smoothly, this slight increase will provide a small buffer for any unforeseen expenses, platform fees, difference in exchange rate and possible Mexican taxes.

Why this means so much to me
Growing up in México city—far from the ocean—I always dreamed of a life near the sea. At 18, my first trip to Los Cabos changed everything, sparking a love for the underwater world that has guided my career. Becoming a dive instructor will not only fulfill a lifelong dream but also allow me to train new Diver with good manners as well as to create new opportunities for others—including some of my clients' children, who are now eager to start their own dive journeys.
