Hi, my name is Ashley. I’m 25 years old, Christian, type 1 diabetic, and I’m working toward my lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. I am the first person in my family to attend university, carrying not only my own hopes but my parents’ sacrifice. They came to this country searching for a better future, and I am determined to turn their dream into reality. Living with type 1 diabetes has taught me resilience, discipline, and compassion qualities that drive my desire to care for others. While I’m deeply proud of how far I’ve come, the journey hasn’t been easy. Nursing school is demanding and expensive, and despite working hard and staying committed, I need help to continue.
